Wimbledon will follow the American and Aussie Opens in implementing replay technology.
Replay systems are set to arrive at Wimbledon in the upcoming tournament.
Competitors will gain the right to contest particular rulings from the chair umpire, mirroring the protocol already in operation at each of the US Open and the Australian Open.
This technology will be operational on Centre Court and the number one court for the duration of the Championships and on the remaining show courts when they are hosting singles matches.
This development comes just a season following the AELTC introduced ELC, which effectively ended the longstanding role of line officials.
Competitors will not be permitted to dispute the call of the electronic line calling, but they can ask for the umpire to re-examine specific decisions, including:
Notably, there will be no cap on the amount of reviews a competitor can ask for.
An illustrative example occurred in a recent tournament last week, where a top player initiated the video challenge against his opponent.
Draper admitted it was a difficult call for the official, but believed his rival had "used the regulations effectively."
Official Aurelie Tourte watched a replay and determined Draper was responsible for hindrance, granting the point to Medvedev.
This technology are not new for major tournaments. It has been in use at the American major since 2023 and the Australian Open since 2025.
Additionally, it is becoming more common on the women’s WTA Tour, and by the coming year the men's ATP Tour plans to have video reviews in place at all of its tournaments.
Another change at Wimbledon this year involves the addition of visual indicators on scoreboards to complement the audio calls from the electronic line calling system.
This solves instances where the crowd have sometimes been uncertain if a ball was out or in.
In other news, with exactly 100 days to go until the beginning of the Championships, the AELTC have further revealed an expansion in daily capacity at the qualifying competition in Roehampton.
